Palisades is best known for its performance in shady lawns or areas, its drought tolerance and its rapid recuperative ability, which makes it a grass that can withstand a high volume of foot traffic.

The benefit of Zoysia grass over St Augustine is only under severe drought conditions. In severe drought situations, Zoysia grass would be more likely to ultimately recover, while St Augustine grass may require replacement.

Zoysia makes a tighter sod than Bermuda or Buffalo grass so is better at resisting weeds. Most people also think Zoysia is more attractive than Bermuda grass. It has less blue in its green and grows more upright.
